Calculator Use
Convert stated odds to a decimal value of probability and a percentage value of winning and losing. This calculator will convert 'odds for winning' an event or 'odds against winning' an event into percentage chances of both winning and losing.
Converting negative odds: You divide 100 by the odds and add 1. Examples: Odds of -118 conversion (100/118) +1 = 1.85 Odds of -200 conversion (100/200) +1 = 1.50. How to convert Decimal Odds to American Odds. When converting decimal odds to American odds there are two different formulas depending on whether you are converting odds of 2.00. You just minus one from the decimal odds, turn that number into a fraction and reduce it down to it's simplest form. Let's take decimal odds of 4.5, this is the equation: 4.5 – 1 = 3.5 35/10 - 7/2. If the decimal price is 1.25, you convert it into fractional odds like this: 1.25 – 1 = 0.25 25/100 - 1/4. Odds Converter; Decimal to Fractional. Remove 1 from the decimal and convert to a fraction, then reduce to simplest form: (decimal-1) - convert to fraction. Examples: 1.75: 1.75 – 1 =.75 = 75/100 = 3/4 2.20: 2.20 – 1 = 1.20 = 120/100 = 6/5. Decimal to American. To convert a decimal of 2.00 or higher: moneyline = (decimal – 1).100.
Be careful if you are using sports teams odds or betting odds. If you see that the Patriots super bowl odds are 9/2, that is most likely 'odds against' and should be entered in the calculator with 'Odds are: against winning.'
When playing a lottery or other games of chance be sure you understand the odds or probability that is reported by the game organizer. A 1 in 500 chance of winning, or probability of winning, is entered into this calculator as '1 to 500 Odds are for winning'. You may also see odds reported simply as chance of winning as 500:1. This most likely means '500 to 1 Odds are against winning' which is exactly the same as '1 to 500 Odds are for winning.'
Probability Formulas:
This calculator will convert 'odds of winning' for an event into a probability percentage chance of success.
Odds, are given as (chances for success) : (chances against success) or vice versa.
If odds are stated as an A to B chance of winning then the probability of winning is given as PW = A / (A + B) while the probability of losing is given as PL = B / (A + B).
For example, you win a game if you pull an ace out of a full deck of 52 cards. Pulling any other card you lose. The chance of winning is 4 out of 52, while the chance against winning is 48 out of 52 (52-4=48). Entering A=4 and B=48 into the calculator as 4:48 odds are for winning you get
For 4 to 48 odds for winning;
Probability of:
Winning = (0.0769) or 7.6923%
Losing = (0.9231) or 92.3077%
'Odds for' winning: 1:12 (reduced from 4:48)
'Odds against' winning: 12:1 (reduced from 48:4)

Decimal to Fractional
Remove 1 from the decimal and convert to a fraction, then reduce to simplest form:
(decimal-1) -> convert to fraction
Examples:
1.75: 1.75 – 1 = .75 = 75/100 = 3/4
2.20: 2.20 – 1 = 1.20 = 120/100 = 6/5
Decimal to American
To convert a decimal of 2.00 or higher:
moneyline = (decimal – 1) *100
Examples:
2.00: (2.00 – 1)*100 = 1*100 = +100
3.35: (3.35 – 1)*100 = 2.35*100 = +235
To convert a decimal of less than 2.00:
moneyline = (-100) / (decimal -1)
Examples:
1.9091 : (-100)/(1.9091 – 1) = (-100)/(0.9091) = -109.99 = -110
1.6579 : (-100)/(1.6579 – 1) = (-100)/(0.6579) = -151.98 = -152
Fractional to American
Over 1/1: Convert Fraction to Decimal and multiply by 100.
Moneyline = (fraction value)*100
Examples:
7/4: (7/4) * 100 = (1.40) * 100 = +140
6/5: (6/5) * 100 = (1.20) * 100 = +120
Under 1/1: divide -100 by the Fraction as a Decimal.
Moneyline = -100/(fraction value)
Examples:
1/4: -100/(1/4) = -100/.25 = -400
1/10: -100/(1/10) = -100/.1 = -1000
Fractional to Decimal
Convert the fraction to a decimal and add one.
Examples:
3/4: (3/4) + 1 = (.75) + 1 = 1.75
6/5: (6/5) + 1 = (1.20) + 1 = 2.20
American to Decimal
Positive Odds ('+'): Divide the moneyline by 100 and add 1.
decimal = (moneyline/100) +1
Examples:
3 1 5 As Decimal
+100: (100/100) + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2.00
+235: (235/100) + 1 = 2.35 + 1 = 3.35
